Switch & crossing layouts
Corus Cogifer has one of the largest layout assembly areas in the UK. We can accurately assemble layouts of up to 250m in length on either concrete or timber bearers.
In recent years, we have supplied over half of the switch and crossing layouts for the West Coat Route Modernisation and also supplied units for a number of other major projects including the East London Line, Thameslink, Cardiff station and Irish Railways.
Principally, layouts are assembled to Network Rail standards and drawings in CEN56 (BS113A), CEN60 (UIC60) and 95RBH rail sections and use switch and crossing units which have been manufactured in either the Scunthorpe workshops or from within the Vossloh Systems group.
At Corus Cogifer, we have the facility to power-up and integration test switch units which are powered by a number of point machines including Hydrive/In-Bearer Clamp lock, HPSS, HW2000 and our own MC91/VCC technology.
We have also started supplying Network Rail with our new generation of modular switch and crossing layouts which have been developed to support Network Rail's aspirations of a 7-day railway with turnout units being installed in single 8 hour track possessions.
